About Urinary Tract Infections

Course overview

Urinary tract infection, or UTI, is a common infection among older adults but can be dangerous if left untreated. In the older adult, UTIs can cause symptoms that are not normally seen. The purpose of this course is to familiarize the learner with urinary tract infections and how the older adult population is affected. The anatomy and function of a normal genitourinary system is discussed, and age-specific signs and symptoms are presented. Information is provided on prevention strategies and the recognition of delirium in its three possible presentations.
