Course overview

MentorVet is a mentorship and professional development program for new and recent veterinary graduates. We strive to promote veterinary well-being by creating a holistic support network and professional skills training to support veterinarians in the transition to practice. This online professional development is a 5-month program with 1 learning module covered each month for a total of 5 modules. This program aims to enhance well-being in the transition to practice through training in vital professional skills such as self-care, conflict management, and leadership, and each module in the program will focus on a specific aspect of professional development. The creation of MentorVet was grounded in research and evidence-based solutions. MentorVet has been extensively evaluated and adapted to best suit the needs of recent graduates. Initial data has shown that new graduates who participated in MentorVet had significantly lower levels of exhaustion, a component of burnout, as compared to new graduates who did not participate in the program.
