Lyme is Ticking: Updates on the Management of Lyme Disease and Other Tick-Borne Infections

Course overview

The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) recently published new guidelines on the management of Lyme disease in 2021, which is the first time these guidelines have been updated since 2006. As such, there are several updates and knowledge gaps that healthcare professionals should be aware of to properly manage and prevent tick-borne infections that are rapidly increasing in the United States. This activity reviews the epidemiology of various ticks and tick-borne infections including Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, babesiosis, Powassan virus, Borrelia miyamotoi disease, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. The clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment will also be described, along with the updated guidelines on Lyme Disease, as released by the IDSA.
