At the completion of the course, the participant will be able to effectively and accurately identify, assess, document, and treat various wounds including pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, and diabetic ulcers. The course includes a lab portion, which concentrates on various wound care dressings including demonstrations of the use of negative pressure wound treatment using a wound VAC (vacuum-assisted closure). In addition, the participant will be introduced to various wound care and management tools developed by various professional wound care organizations including the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPAUP), the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society and the American Diabetes Association.
