Course overview

Organ and tissue donation and transplantation are lifesaving and life-altering therapies, but there are serious shortages of donated organs and tissue. Certain states, like New Jersey, have made efforts to increase the number of donors by making it easier to donate an organ or tissue. Since there is a mismatch between need and the supply, a system of recovery and allocation is necessary to decide who will receive the next transplant organ or tissue obtained. Once a transplant is completed, there are common complications and risks associated with the procedure.
