- Differentiate Bipolar Disorder Type II disorder from Unipolar Depression and Bipolar Disorder Type I.
- Identify the common behaviors displayed by patients in hypomanic and depressive phases of Bipolar Disorder Type II.

- Choose three non-somatic components that have reported benefit in increasing period between acute episodes.
Course overview
The purpose of this activity is to increase competence in detecting and confirming the diagnosis of Bipolar II Disorder through clinical interview, and to increase competency in both acute and maintenance phases requiring the development of evidence-based treatment plans. Bowden (2001) noted that though the prevalence of Bipolar II might approximate Major Depression, it was diagnosed significantly less often due to clinicians missing subtle differences between the two disorders.
