Trigger point acupuncture needling has been practiced for generations. A trigger point or knot is an overly contracted muscle. Muscles have cross bridges that contract and relax as they move. Areas of muscle that contract involuntarily and remain contracted are referred to as trigger points. Modern acupuncture relies heavily on the correct diagnosis and treatment of ashi points for pain management. The goal of trigger point needling is to cause the muscle to twitch. This twitch resets the muscle, allowing it to move across a broader range of motion. This course will provide participants the basics of trigger point acupuncture needling, how to identify trigger points, treatment protocols for neck pain using trigger point acupuncture needling.
