Course overview
SRI and ILWT have partnered in this specially designed course for clinicians with a CLT or CLWT certification, "Oncology for the Lymphedema Specialist." There are over 17 million people who live with or have a history of cancer, this number is expected to increase to over 26 million by 2040. Cancer survival is growing, and cancer is becoming a chronic condition. To effectively treat oncology lymphedema patients, we must have knowledge of cancer, treatment, and its side effects. These side effects impact the oncology population you are presently and will continue treating. This course is packed with evidence-based research on the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, surgical interventions, and wound care specifics for cancer patients. Training will include an overview of high-risk lymphedema oncology populations followed by a deep dive into breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. The course will include treatment for: axillary webbing syndrome, breast lymphedema, post-mastectomy pain syndrome, and labs. The latest evidence-based surgical interventions for the prevention and treatment of lymphedema will also be presented.
