In just over a years time, COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, has changed Americans way of life and how healthcare is delivered in the U.S. Guidelines governing preventive measures, including how we interact with everyone from patients to members of our own families, have undergone a process of near-constant evolution. Treatment recommendations have been regularly updated as scientists and providers have learned more about how the virus affects the human body. This course provides an overview of the latest information about the virus, preventing transmission, illness classification and treatment of patients with symptomatic disease, and currently authorized vaccines. The goal of this course is to educate healthcare professionals in acute care settings about prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
