Preparing for the Use of Telehealth in an Agency or Practice

Course overview

This course aims to teach managerial-level staff or clinicians who run a group or solo practice how to build a telehealth program. Telehealth is designed to enable everyone to have access to healthcare, using information technology to enable healthcare when distance separates two or more people. In this course, you will learn how to determine your readiness to begin a telehealth program and the steps needed to get started. Information and vignettes will be blended to offer practical strategies that you can apply in your own setting to use telehealth for adults with behavioral health issues. You will learn how to assess whether you and your colleagues are ready for a telehealth program, and you will learn about providing the appropriate setting for telehealth. You will also consider cultural issues related to telehealth, and you will learn about resources to help you as you are getting started. The goal of this course is to provide addictions, behavioral health counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, and social work professionals in health and human services with information on how to build a telehealth program.
