Hour 1 *Evaluate existing evidence for the effectiveness of acupuncture in influencing the functional connectivity of the central nervous system in patients with musculoskeletal pain. *Critically evaluate the current evidence for acupuncture as a treatment for acute low back pain. *Determine the effectiveness of acupuncture for chronic pain conditions. *Summarize the most current scientific evidence on the effectiveness of acupuncture on acute, subacute and chronic neck pain. Hour 2 *Assess the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture therapies for the management of upper and lower extremity musculoskeletal disorders. *Compare differences in brain activation patterns in migraine patients before and after long-term treatment with real or sham acupuncture. *Determine if true acupuncture is more effective than sham acupuncture for prevention of migraine attacks. *Establish the time course of acupuncture effects in those with chronic pain.
