Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

1. Explain the current approach to the management of chronic heart failure.
2. Discuss the pharmacologic options available for treatment of heart failure and compare them based on their efficacy, dosage, potential adverse effects, drug interactions, and cost.
3. Review the efficacy and safety of vericiguat (Verquvo) for treatment of heart failure.
4. Review the evidence supporting approval of dapagliflozin (Farxiga) and empagliflozin (Jardiance) for use in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.
5. Determine the most appropriate therapy given the clinical presentation of an individual patient with chronic heart failure.
