Course overview

It is essential that therapists understand the pharmacological management of neurologically complex patients. This module provides rehabilitation therapists with an overview of the medications commonly prescribed to patients with acute neurological conditions, including stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Learners will gain an understanding of the impact of these medications on clinical presentation and treatment, common side effects, and considerations for communication with the interdisciplinary team. The goal of this course is to provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy professionals with an overview of pharmacology specific to patients with stroke and TBI.
