Course overview

In this presentation, Dr. Schepis will examine prescription opioid misuse across the lifespan, focusing on differences between age groups in misuse prevalence, recent trends in prevalence, motives, diversion sources, and co-ingestion with alcohol. Prescription opioid misuse processes by other sociodemographic characteristics, including race/ethnicity and sexual identity, will also be addressed. Finally, comparisons will also be discussed between prescription opioid misuse processes and prescription stimulant and tranquilizer/sedative (primarily benzodiazepine) medication misuse.
