Advocacy Skills Interactive Workshop: Enhancing Your Active Listening Skills

Course overview

This course teaches methods such as rapport building and active lsitening skills as pariticpants will engage in hands-on learning of these interventions. In addition to building rapport, topics include trauma-informed approaches, do's and don'ts and unconditional regard. Particpants will learn to identify active listening skills untilized when interacting with youth and adult survivors. They will also learn two concepts of buidling rapport with domestic violence survivors and be able to demonstrate building rapport by practicing attending and listening skiills. The workshop is free for ODVN members and $25 for non-ODVN members. Sonia Ferencik, LISW-S, RA, ODVN's Yourth Advocacy and Trauma Services Coordinator will teach the workshop.
