Course overview

Many programs in Ohio and other states throughout the country have untilized ODVN's 16 Trauma-Informed Approaches as core training resources to help understand survivor-defined advocacy. Participants will learn to describe trauma informed concepts and how to implement them and will be able to identify two new trauma- informed approaches when supporting survivors of domestic violence. They will also learn to apply the trauma-informed approaches and engage in collaborative relasionships with survivors. Understanding the 16 Approaches will help particpants develop a strong foundation in their advocacy skill set. Trainers are Cathy Alexander, LISW-S, Trauma Specialist and Sonia Ferencik, LISW-S, RA, ODVN Youth Advocacy and Trauma-Informed Services Coordinator. The cost is free for ODVN members and $25 for non-ODVN members.
