The course discussed the importance of high quality auditory access for brain development in children with hearing loss, the importance of good speech perception and technology in the classroom as tools for success. The roll of the itinerant teacher for the deaf/hard of hearing in the mainstream was discussed and how they provide resources to optimize outcomes for the mainstreamed child.
