Course overview

CT image quality, which is essential to providing an accurate diagnosis, is determined by comparing an image to its actual object. In order to obtain the best image quality in CT, a technologist must examine all scanning parameters. Adjustment of any of these parameters may affect image contrast, the images spatial resolution, or the apparent noise on the image, and at the same time possibly affect the dose of ionizing radiation administered to the patient. Artifacts due to positioning or technical errors can also severely degrade image quality in CT.
