Course overview

This course reviews the health effects of five common metallic environmental contaminants: arsenic, cadmium, lead, manganese, and mercury. Each contaminant will be examined using the following outline: Description and Uses; Metal Distribution in the Body; Nutrition-Related Exposure Pathway; Other Routes of Exposure; Methods of Testing; High Risk Populations; Cognitive, Behavioral, and Nervous System Effects of Exposure; Other Health Effects of Exposure; Nutritional Considerations; and Prevention of Toxicity.
