Course overview

A fundamental skill in the clinical setting is the ability to identify and prescribe the appropriate types of therapeutic exercise. The clinician is tasked with understanding the implications of different types of exercise for a variety of neuromuscular dysfunctions. The rehabilitation specialist must have a comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles behind human muscular response to exercise. This scientific knowledge then must be prescribed appropriately to patients to help address their rehabilitation needs. This course will cover the scientific principles of therapeutic exercise and how it is applied in the clinical setting. It will help clinicians understand the physiological adaptive processes to therapeutic exercise and how it is applied across the varied populations encountered in the clinical setting.
