Course overview

This course makes the evidence-based connections about the oral-systemic link. Several well-researched studies have shown the association between the status of the oral cavity and its relationship with systemic disease. Among the researched and reported known associations is the inflammatory response oral infection has with auto-immune responses directly associated with the overall health of the individual. This is a one-hour presentation earning one hour of continuing education for the dental and medical healthcare professions. Completers will understand the role oral disease/health plays in various systemic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, cancer, respiratory disease, and rheumatoid arthritis and how to prevent or manage them.
