Course overview
Hematologic conditions affect patients of every age, can be acute or chronic, acquired or inherited, and range from very mild to life-threatening. Every organ and system within the body is affected by the hematological system; therefore, caring for a patient with a blood disorder can be challenging. Nurses should have a good understanding of hematological conditions and how to recognize their symptoms, diagnostic tests, treatment and management strategies, and education patients need to optimize quality of life and prevent complications. This course is designed to equip nurses with the essential knowledge needed to care for patients with these conditions. The goal of this course is to provide nursing professionals in the acute care setting with information regarding hematological disorders.
