For the past decade, there has been a significant increase in Adolescent Suicide with no indication of slowing as well as significant changes in lethal methods, gender discriminations, and age categories according to SAMHSA, Preventing Suicide, A Toolkit for High Schools. This interactive webinar will explore this phenomenon from Developmental, Psychoanalytic, and Behavioral Theory as well as the influences and multi-complexity of Cultural, Social, and Political influences. It will also discuss previous treatment interventions exploring their failures and successes as well as the most recent intervention and treatment suggestions supported by the APA /SAMHSA research findings, which include incorporating a network of assessors and interventionists, providing treatment suggestions for engaging 'at-risk" adolescents in developing their own "no- harm _ contracts which not only empower them but also help them recognize their emotional triggers and develop alternative coping mechanisms.
