Course overview

The purpose of this course is to review Clinical skills: Preoperative assessment, preparing the patient for surgery, Postop care, Postoperative exercises, Postop pain management, EKG 12 lead application and EKG Interpretation, IV Therapy procedures; how to care for patients receiving Intravenous therapy, selecting appropriate veins, performing venipuncture IV insertion, Tegaderm dressing application, priming IV tubing, flushing extensions, hanging IV Fluid bags, discontinuing the IV access as well as calculating IV flow rates. The course will allow the participant to practice skills on manikins so that the learner will have increased confidence to work in the Hospital, Long term care, skilled Nursing Facilities, Home Health care, MD Office, Clinics and other Healthcare settings.
