Course overview

Breathing plays a major role in kinetic chain dysfunction. Many fitness and medical professionals overlook the importance of breath in their performance and rehabilitation programs. Proper motor control, otherwise known as stability, encompassing timing and sequencing of the muscles in a chain of activation of the intrinsic core, is not possible in the absence of breathing dysfunction. Postural control is first understood during developmental kinesiology, when we first learn to balance ourselves. Then, posture emerges from your life and the activities you participate in. We cannot separate posture from breathing, however. It was our first motor program and it is inherent in everything we do. Therefore, a scientific and systematic approach to properly assessing and retraining the breath can be integrated into your training programs to improve neuromuscular efficiency, thereby preventing injury and enhancing performance in life and sport.
