The practice of nursing at its essence dates to ancient times. Over time, nursing care was provided by servants, family members, handmaidens, and untrained nurses until it started to be formalized as a profession around the late 19th century. Simultaneous to the development of the nursing profession was the formation of nursing professional associations. In fact, nursing associations were essential to the development of nursing as a profession. In this course, you will learn about the history of nursing professional organizations as well as the benefits of membership. The goal of this course is to motivate nurses with information regarding the benefits of professional organization membership.
