Course overview

When thinking of trauma, we often think of symptoms such as hypervigilance and behavioral avoidance. But where do these symptoms come from? The brain is a central part in the development of trauma across the life span. In his workshop, Diane Bigler, LCSW will present a basic overview of neuroscience and learners will deepen their understanding of how the brain contributes to trauma development. General characteristics of a trauma response will be discussed. Learners will be encouraged to strengthen their knowledge of the brains role in trauma and discover brain-based approaches for supporting clients with trauma.
