Course overview

Domestic Violence is perpetrated by someone who is or was involved in an intimate relationship with the victim. It may include repeated battering and injury, psychological abuse, sexual assault, progressive social isolation, or deprivation and intimidation. In 2013, the United States first developed a national protocol to identify this type of violence as well as identification, treatment, and prevention methods. Today, that protocol has mature into best practices and standardization for IPV care throughout the U.S. It is currently estimated that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 10 men have experienced some type of intimate partner violence. This in-depth video course explores the epidemiology, incidence and prevalence of IPV as well best practice standards and JACHO and state mandatory reporting requirements.
