Course overview
There are a variety of primary and secondary uses for benzodiazepines. Regardless of how a clinician may prescribe or a patient may use them, benzodiazepines should be only a short-term intervention and for many older adults may not be appropriate at all. They are not recommended for use as long-term or permanent treatment solutions. This course provides information on the primary and secondary uses of benzodiazepines and an overview of their advantages when used appropriately. The course content also discusses the risks associated with misuse and alternate treatment methods.
