Improving patient experience, promoting positive clinical outcomes, and increasing nursing retention are critical goals in any healthcare organization. There have been many recent changes to the healthcare system, causing organizations to reevaluate their decision-making process. Unfortunately, many quality initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic were put on hold. However, it is even more vital for our current healthcare system to implement and sustain quality initiatives. Implementing shared governance has proven to increase nursing retention and assist with resiliency while improving patient outcomes. In addition, focusing on nursing engagement leads to a transformational leadership approach with the potential to improve the current healthcare system.
