Course overview

Splinting is an intervention for both neurological and orthopedic populations across the lifespan. Almost any upper extremity orthopedic treatment regime can be supported with splinting. Several elements of splinting will be discussed, and a hands-on splinting lab will follow in which the participant will demonstrate splinting objectives, the use of anatomical landmarks, and employ proper mechanical and construction principles in the construction of a versatile wrist cock up splint. Several techniques for basic splinting will be addressed.
