THE PRESCRIPTION DRUG MARKETING ACT (PDMA) IS AN AMERICAN LAW PASSED IN 1988 TO ESTABLISH A LEGAL FRAMEWORK FOR THE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE DISTRIBUTION OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. THE PDMA SEEKS TO PREVENT THE SALE OF COMPROMISED, EXPIRED, AND COUNTERFEIT DRUGS THAT MAY OTHERWISE BE SOLD WITHIN AN UNREGULATED WHOLESALE MARKET. THIS ACTIVITY REVIEWS THE COMPONENTS OF THE PDMA AND HIGHLIGHTS THE ROLE OF PRESCRIPTION MARKET REGULATION IN HEALTHCARE DELIVERY.
