This course will provide a comprehensive overview of HIV from a scientific, social, and ethical perspective. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the virus, its transmission, prevention, treatment options, and the social and ethical issues surrounding HIV/AIDS. This course satisfies 3 hours of HIV/AIDS first biennium renewal according to Florida Board of Acupuncture CE requirements.

By studying Understanding HIV - From Science to Social Justice, we hope to achieve the following seven objectives:
1. Understand the biology of HIV and its impact on the immune system.
2. Recognize the various modes of transmission and prevention strategies, including PrEP and PEP.
3. Understand the global impact of HIV and the social and economic factors that contribute to its spread
4. Explore the history of HIV/AIDS activism and advocacy.
5. Examine the social and ethical issues surrounding HIV, including stigma, discrimination, and access to healthcare.
6. Analyze the current state of HIV treatment options and the challenges facing individuals with HIV.
7. Evaluate strategies for promoting HIV prevention, education, and advocacy.
