This course will discuss the various forms of arthritis, its prevalence in the US population, symptoms, and risk factors. This course will also describe the evidence for a connection between arthritis and diet, and discuss various types of diets, antioxidants, and vitamin supplements. Also, this course will explain the benefits of exercise for patients with arthritis and identify the various forms of exercise suitable for arthritis patients, and how they may decrease or prevent arthritis symptoms. Finally, this course will discuss the role of social workers, physical therapists, and occupational therapists in the management of arthritis.
