In this 2 CE hour training Introduction to the DSM-5 criteria for the commonly co- accompanying disorders with ADHD and substance-related disorders (SRD) will be discussed along with the presentation of the basics (including biochemical aspects) of ADHD and SRD, along with common, co-occurring conditions and discussion of major assessment issues involved with this population. Elucidation of various treatment paradigms deemed most efficacious with this population. The presenter will briefly present an overview of some of the "dos and don'ts" with this population, along with some challenges that might accompany some co-occurring conditions and also when and to whom to refer (and/or potentially include as part of the treatment team that may be needed with some combinations of commonly seen conditions with SRD and ADHD.
