After discussion of medical history, failed treatments, persisting symptoms and documentation of all the details of current pain and limitations, patients often become distressed and struggle to maintain composure. Now what? Join clinical psychologist and medical traumatic stress expert, Sacha McBain, PhD as she shares how to promote psychological wellbeing during chronic illness. In this session, Dr. McBain will provide an overview of the psychosocial impacts of living with chronic illness, with an emphasis on medical trauma. Participants will learn practical strategies that they can incorporate into their practice to improve communication with patients, increase engagement in care, and facilitate deeper healing and recovery.
