When Behavioral Problems are Actually Medical Problems

Course overview

In this video course, Veterinary Behaviorist, Dr. Amy Pike, will help us understand the cues our patients are giving us through their body language and behavior. Through videos and discussion, we'll learn to differentiate medical, environmental, and psychological causes of unwanted behaviors. In session one, we'll move body-system by body-system to understand how medical disorders can present as behavioral problems. Case examples will be utilized in each lesson, to demonstrate how behaviors resolve when the underlying medical issue is treated. By the end of the course, attendees will understand the importance of the mantra - behavior medicine is always medical first, behavior second.
