2017 (AAP) 2017 New Classification of Periodontal Diseases and Conditions

Course overview

This course explains the 2017 AAP New Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases & Conditions and assists the general dental practitioner and dental hygienist to properly assess the periodontal status of a patient based on the latest evidence-based data published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (2018). The new classification system recategorizes and re-names periodontal diseases by outlining their clinical characteristics through staging and grading. Suggested care plans are offered as a guide on how to easily implement these new diagnostic tools and assessment parameters. The new system also addresses the systemic components of periodontitis as well as the assessment and treatment of implant conditions not included past classifications.
