Course overview

The increased incidence and prevalence of physical, behavioral, and psychosocial health in healthcare settings means a moving target of issues for the practitioners to screen and assess patients. Implicit and explicit biases factor into screening and assessment, and they impact patient outcomes. This course is part of a three-part series that will address Ethical engagement of patients and colleagues Ethical screening, assessment, and treatment planning Application of ethical interventions for population-based treatment This four-chapter course will provide the interprofessional workforce an ethical tool kit for more effective and efficient screening and assessment. This course content is applicable for all members of the interprofessional care team across the transitions of care (e.g., primary and specialty care, ambulatory, ED, acute and long-term care settings, home health, and community-based) particularly for case managers, nurses, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, respiratory therapists, speech-language pathologists, and social workers.
