Course overview

Annually, around 800,000 people in the United States have a cerebrovascular accident (CVA). CVA, also known as "stroke" is a sudden interruption of blood flow to the brain, resulting in damage to brain tissue. This can lead to a wide range of physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges for those affected. Physical therapy is a crucial component of the rehabilitation journey, helping stroke survivors regain their independence, mobility, and overall well-being. This course will explore types of CVAs, clinical presentation, prevalence, anatomy, outcome tests, rehabilitation considerations, and case studies. After this course, physical therapists and physical therapist assistants will be well-versed in the clinical presentation and best plans of care for their patients undergoing CVA rehabilitation.
