Cancer Care: Team Navigation

Course overview

The U.S. healthcare system is complex, which results in fragmented care that patients with a cancer diagnosis must navigate. Advances in cancer detection and treatment have created a positive impact on overall mortality rates; however, one of the most challenging issues remains equitable cancer care. Patient navigation is a patient-centered intervention that seeks to close the gap in cancer disparities. Oncology navigation helps patients timely access to care from prevention to survivorship and end-of-life care. This course introduces the role of the oncology navigator across different healthcare settings.
