This course covers basic principles and interpretation of diagnostic imaging modalities as they apply for all healthcare providers with imaging privileges or for those that have an interest in gaining further knowledge in this field. The emphasis is on the basic physics of the imaging technique, viewing and interpreting films, radiographic anatomy, and clinical correlation with patient cases. Specific types of imaging, including x rays, scintigraphy, ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, MR arthrography, CT and computed tomography will be discussed. Case examples will be applied to general orthopedic conditions, as well as sports injuries involving the upper and lower quarter. The correlation of clinical findings with the diagnostic imaging results will be discussed in specific case examples.
