Course overview

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, is a common disorder that older adults may experience. The inability to breathe with ease can be scary and difficult for anyone to experience. As a trusted health professional, the individuals you care for will often look to you for information, guidance, and support in these situations. In this course you will meet Joe, an older adult who has experienced an exacerbation of COPD. You will review the disease process, physiological changes, treatments, and interventions to help Joe understand his condition and manage his symptoms to provide a better quality of life.
