Learn the five steps of the Denial Management Interactional Process designed to identify and manage denial in here-and-now interactions with clients. Be able to assist their clients indirectly in identifying and managing the twelve most common self-sabotage/denial patterns that can disrupt the treatment process and clients' quality of life. Practice three or more clinical tools covered in this process including how to make better decisions, conduct an inner dialog process to help manage denial, and a bookmarking process designed to keep clients focused on the immediate goal of treatment. Discuss self-sabotage/denial differently by normalizing and "de-pathologizing" this human defense mechanism in order to explain it to the clients they serve.
