Course overview

Gain practical guidance on evidence based palliative practices to manage common symptoms accompanying advanced diseases and provide competent and compassionate end of life care. Course Objectives: * Utilize prognostic indicators in identifying patients with advanced disease who can benefit from palliative interventions. * Describe the pathophysiloogy of advanced disease and their associated symptomatology. * Recognize how to diagnose, assess, monitor, and treat common symptoms that accompany advanced disease. * Explain how to use pain assessment tools to differentiate cancer pain syndromes. * Identify pharmacologic approaches to palliate symptoms and reduce complications.
