Course overview

Chinese medicine education has long been an amalgam of skilled experts in the field teaching the medicine and those with both an education and Chinese medicine background. As the education processes associated with teaching Chinese medicine mature over time it requires that some of our experts in the field with limited formal educational backgrounds begin to enhance their educational skills. This course intends to introduce Chinese medicine practitioners interested in raising the level of teaching excellence by introducing them to some well established teaching techniques such as Blooms Taxonomy, Garners Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles while blending in the Five Phase model of styles of problem solving and personality energetics articulated by Efrem Korngold, Harriet Beinfield and Steven Cowan. This course also explores innovation in education as well as learning accommodations in those with educational challenges. Sara Allen, AP, Dipl. OM, FABORM, is a TCM practitioner with a practice focused on reproductive medicine, allergy elimination, and pediatric therapies. With 25 years of teaching experience and two secondary subject teaching certifications, she also has a deep passion for educating the patients in her clinic and the students at the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine. She has taught in the classroom as well as online, developing curriculum and lessons tailored to students individual needs. She loves using her creativity to communicate both in the classroom and the treatment room helping students and patients raise their level of knowledge and understanding. She is convinced learning should be fun and engaging. Please contact Kevin Clark at 954-763-9840 extension 206 for details.
