Course overview

The quadratus lumborum (QL) is a crucial structure and its role in lumbar stability and its contribution to low back pain is controversial. The QL is reported to be more of a postural muscle that acts as a crossroad, an intersection of tensional force, rather than being a prime mover in any action. In this presentation, we will discuss this muscle, its complex structure, its myofascial connections to neighbouring tissues that need to be examined, and the latest research about its function. We will also discuss sinew channel connections, acupuncture treatment protocols, myofascial release, and a few corrective exercises; all to correct postural imbalances that are affecting this muscle.
