Communication is the transfer of information from one person to another. It is a skill that involves both verbal and nonverbal forms. Understanding that behaviors are the language of dementia, then interpreting the behaviors as a form of communication is vital. This course discusses how to effectively communicate with a person with dementia. It also discusses what can trigger challenging behaviors and how to prevent the frustration that can lead to these behaviors.
