Diabetic Foot Ulcers

Course overview

Despite recent improvements in patient access to medical care in the U.S., diabetic foot ulcers continue to be a prevalent health problem. Understanding the pathophysiology of diabetic ulcers enhances screening and prevention skills and assessment of current wounds. Treatment requires participation of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure appropriate wound care, monitoring, and ongoing reassessment to prevent recurrence. The goal of this course is to provide physicians, physician assistants, nurses, certified diabetes educators, and radiology professionals in acute care settings with information regarding the development, prevention, and care of diabetic foot ulcers.
