The prevalence rates of substance use (SU) among individuals with mild to borderline intellectual disability (MBID) range from nearly non-existent to highly prevalent. This could be due to changes in methodology between various studies. Even though SU has become increasingly popular among people with MBID, addiction medicine has mostly overlooked the topic.
